Based on a industrial real-time systems development background in the SKF group, he has been granted and lead several academic-industrial research collaboration projects since 2017, typically with the aim of using AI for system modelling, such as finding complex correlations for production optimisation. He has served as journal and research funding application reviewer. Gunnar is a frequent invited speaker and has served on several PhD Thesis committees. He served as University Division Chair between 2022-2017 and as the Director of the Industrial Research School IPSI for two years.
